What can I do to maintain my unit?
We're glad you asked! A great way to ensure that your unit is working properly and will last you for years to come is doing regular maintenance. Here are 3 things that you can do. To learn more about what you can do visit our "RESOURCES" page.

1. Regularly check and change (or clean) air filters
2. Clean air registers (vents) as needed
3. Schedule regular maintenance checks.
How often do I need to clean my air registers (vents)?
This can vary depending on the amount of allergens in your home and how much you use your unit, so we recommend cleaning as needed. The better maintained that your air filters are the cleaner your registers will be. A clogged or visibly dirty vent usually means a clogged and dirty filter.
My unit stopped working, what should I do?
Before you call us, check the basics:
-
Check the batteries in you thermostat
-
Check for a tripped breaker or blown fuse.
-
Change your air filter
-
Make sure the system is set to cool (or heat) and that the setting is at least three degree below (or above) the current room temperature.

If one of these 5 simple problems are not to blame call us for a complete system check up.
How often should I have my unit serviced?
We recommend servicing your unit at least once a year. Even if the unit is running perfectly a service visit will help maximize the lifespan of your unit, identify problems before they start, and make minor repairs before they get worse.
How often should my air filters be cleaned or changed?
Generally, filters should be cleaned or replaced every 90 days. However, if your home is exposed to a high level of allergens, such as pet hair, or if someone in your home has respiratory issues, you may need to change or clean the filters more often.
How do I change or clean my unit's filters?
Before inspecting or replacing the air filters ensure that your unit is turned off. Then, determine wether your unit has disposable or reusable filters.

Disposable Filter: These filters cannot and should not be re-used. You can usually pick up a pack of filters at your local hardware store and even online. First, you will need to find what size filter you will need. Look on the packaging or on the cardboard frame of the filter, you will see a sequence of numbers that looks similar to this LxWxH. That is the size of your filters. You can also measure the filter yourself. Then, choose your desired MERV rating. Once purchased remove the wrapping. You will see an arrow on the filter’s frame showing you the direction that air should flow through the filter. The arrow should be pointing towards the unit.

Reusable Filter: These filters do not need to be replaced, they can be washed and reused. Be sure to follow the manuals instructions for your specific unit on how to properly clean your filters.

What is a MERV rating ?
A MERV rating indicates how effective a filter is at capturing different sizes of particles. The higher the rating the more particles it will be able to filter. However, it should be noted that filters with higher MERV ratings may need to be changed more frequently. If you have questions on what MERV rating would be best for your unit, feel free to contact us.
